The average power is given by the formula:

\red\implies \tt{Pav =  \frac{∆w}{∆t}}

If F is the force acting on body through displacement

∆d then work done will be ∆W is given by:

\red\implies \tt{Pav =  \frac{F.∆d}{∆t}}

\red\implies \tt{Pav = F \frac{∆d}{∆t}}

But \frac{∆d}{∆t}= Vav = Average Velocity

Therefore: P = F.Vay

P=F.V

Extra Information:-

  • Power is the dot product of force and velocity.
  • It is a scalar quantity.
  • The SI unit of power is watt which is defined as "One joule of work done in one second."

Hope it helps:)

Answer:

In the straightforward cases where a constant force moves an object at constant velocity, the power is just P = Fv. In a more general case where the velocity is not in the same direction as the force, then the scalar product of force and velocity must be used.
