Describe 2 experiments to show that sound has vibrations associated with it
Answers
Answer:
The two experiments which show that sound has vibrations associated with it are:
Aluminium Hanger Experiment
Tie a rubber band to an aluminium hanger and make a bow - like structure. When the elastic rubber band is pulled, a sound can be heard. This is because the vibrations of the string produce the sound.
If the string is stopped in between then the sound ceases. By placing a v-shaped paper strip on the elastic band, the vibrations can also be visually seen.
Tuning Fork Experiment
The tuning fork experiment is a simple experiment that proves sound has vibrations. When the prongs of the tuning fork are made to vibrate by hitting, the sound is produced.
If the prongs hit a harder surface, then the vibrations are more and the sound produced is more. With a softer surface, the prongs produce lesser vibrations and no or less sound is produced with it.
