Describe a chemical method each for the preparation of the sols of sulphur and platinum in water.

Chemical methods for the preparation of-

i. Sols of Sulphur, can be prepared by oxidation, [O], of H₂S in presence of conc. HNO₃

H₂S + HNO₃ → S + H₂O; Condition: [O]

ii. Sols of Platinum in water, can be prepared by Bredig's Arc method.

Here, two Pt electrodes are used through which high voltage is passed and as a result, metal gets vapourised. When these vapours condense, a colloidal solution of Platinum in water is formed.
