Answer:

Bangalore! The name brings up visions of serene lakes, age-old trees and beautiful gardens and cool showers on a hot summer’s afternoon! Located 3000 feet above sea level, this ‘Silicon Valley of India’ draws people to it, not just because of its beauty but also for the opportunities it offers.

Every city has its own unique features and special places of interest and Bangalore is not any different in this regard. When in Bangalore, do check out some of these special attractions when you have the time and treasure the memories. We bring you things Bangalore is famous for.

Shopping, food, culture!

1. Shopping at Brigade Road & Commercial Street

Shopping in Bangalore is a great experience, as it combines the size of a metro with the fun of the much smaller place it used to be a few decades ago. The roads are narrow, the buildings are shorter than, say, in Mumbai, but the rest is the same.

At Brigade Road, you can get some trendy items, while at Commercial Street you will find a lot of street vendors selling trinkets at reasonable prices. A great space for a couple of hours of shopping.

2, Heading to Chikpet for Silk Sarees

Most visitors to Bangalore put buying pure silk sarees on their list of things to do and the reasons are not far to seek. Bangalore is home to some of the best and most authentic silks. It is also dubbed the fashion capital of India or even the East by some.

MG Road and Chikpet are some of the areas in Bangalore where you will find an excellent collection of traditional silk sarees and contemporary clothes . The prices vary by quality and a discerning eye/escort may be necessary to avoid being defrauded.

3. Breakfast on St. Mark’s Road & Church Street

Just off the very popular MG Road is St. Mark’s Road, where there are several important place to get a good breakfast in Bangalore. Chief among them is Koshy’s, a legendary restaurant with the food to back up its reputation. You get excellent sandwiches and puffs for breakfast and the fluffiest omelettes in all of Bangalore. Almost next door is the Church Street Social, which is the place to be if you’re nursing a bad hangover.

4. Trendy Meals at Indiranagar

They say that there are more restaurants per square kilometre in Indiranagar than in any other part of India. This trendy locality has some amazing restaurants, serving both Indian and international cuisine — and, of course, plenty of alcohol. Most famous among them, arguably, is Toit, a microbrewery that sees massive crowds any day of the week (even in the day, sometimes).

5. South Indian Food at Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR)

If you believe in being a Roman when in Rome, you would head to an outlet of MTR to join the queues of Bangaloreans waiting patiently from 6 am for their turn at this Udupi eatery, which is set to complete a century in business soon.

The strictly vegetarian fare here has many fans, who reminisce of its aroma, the pure ghee and the strong filter coffee which accompany the typical South Indian breakfast fare of Idli/sambar, Dosa, Vada and Upma. The original outlet of MTR is right next to the Lal Bagh, but they have many branches, even outside India.

6. Indian Classical Dance at Nrityagram Dance Village

7. Keeping Theatre Alive With Ranga Shankara

An International Performance At Ranga Shankara

Those interested in acting and especially theatre must know of this stage, which promotes theatre in all languages. Whether interested in acting or only in catching a live performance, head to this theatre in J P Nagar after checking their website for upcoming performances.

8. The Impeccable Cubbon Park

Visit these amazing gardens spread over 100 acres with well-tended roses and other exotic and indigenous plant life. The park plays a major role as lung space to the city and upholds the Garden City’s reputation by keeping its denizens amazingly close to nature, as they go about their daily activities.

Visit here to enjoy the beautiful architecture of the heritage buildings housed here like the 100 year-old heritage building housing the State’s library with world’s largest collection of Braille books (and the students who throng here), the High Court of Karnataka, an aquarium, a Youth centre and an art gallery among others.
