Answer:

Distillation is the process by which pure liquid from a solution can be obtained.

The distillation process is based on the principle of boiling point of water and condensation process.

The experiment to show distillation of water is as following:

  1. prepare a set up with a impure water in a distillation flask (cylindrical) over a mesh mat and keep bunsen burner below it.
  2. Connect the distillation flask with leibig condensor and one end connects to the receiving flask.
  3. Allow the burner to burn and use a thermometer to check the temperature of water
  4. Once the impure water will reach its boiling point the vapours will allow to condense through leibig condensor and the receiving flaks will recieve the pure water.
  5. Condensation of water vapours gives pure water.
