take a jar and a candle burn the candle and put the jar on the candle after sometime you see that the candle not burn this is because the oxygen present in Jar is completed and oxygen does not left and we all know that oxygen is very useful for burning

we need to perform the following experiment:

Aim: To prove that oxygen is required for combustion

Materials required: a candle, a splinter or matchbox, a glass jar, china dish

Procedure:

1) Take the candle on a china dish.

2) Burn the candle using a splinter or a match from a matchbox.

3) Now cover the burning candle with the inverted glass jar.

4) Wait for some time and observe that the flame gets extinguished.

Observation:

1) Candle burns only in the presence of oxygen

2) Candle extinguishes when oxygen supply is cut off.
