Recently, my father's friends from a long time ago paid us a visit.

They have never been to this city, none that I know of. My father met him in Maharashtra when he was in his early twenties, struggling to become something in life.

My father knew no one in Maharashtra as our family belongs to Rajasthan. Those people were his first neighbours, friends and only family he had there, apart from his wife.

I have always heard so much about this Maharashtrian family from my parents. We kids have never seen them or met them before this day; when they were finally here in our city to meet us.

They are down to earth people. From the stories and scenes my parents had depicted about their time in Maharashtra they appeared to be very kind and helpful people.

We were waiting for them since 8:00 in the morning. My mother all prepared with delicious meal and Rajasthani cuisine to surprise them. My father had been calling them to ask when will their train arrive.

We were getting restless yet excited to meet this family my father had. People with completely different language, culture and religion etc. Two states ready to embrace each other.

They finally arrived at 3 in the noon. An elderly couple, with a mid-30s daughter and a teenager boy about whom I couldn't figure out what was his relation to them.

It later turned out he was the son of that daughter.

She is so perky, frank and young at heart that it was impossible to spot she was a mother to a 15 year old child. I and my sister had chats with her late night, knowing her and her life and sharing some of the secrets from our lives as well.

The old man or uncle (what we call him) was a retired government school teacher. He is such a gentleman with so much experience and facts about life to tell us. He shared his knowledge and wisdom with us. His stories were so interesting and captivating.

The old lady taught my mother so many local dishes from her state and tasty yummy recipes as well. She cooked food everyday because she enjoys cooking and mother had 4-5 days holiday from kitchen because of her.

One thing I could tell that they are very fond of food, homemade, for sure. Other thing is they like visiting temples and are more like theist and spiritual types people.

We had visited so many temples during their stay here and learnt so much from them from life lessons to recipes.

They are just as our parents told us.

Those 4-5 days were memorable ones with them.
