✔Plants take CO2 and H2O ,convert it into carbohydrates in the presence of sunlight and Chlorophyll. This process is called photosynthesis.

⚫6CO2 +6H20 - - - - - - - - >C6H12O6 +6O2 +6H20

✔In Plants the carbohydrates which are not used are stored in the form of starch.

⚫ Events that take place during photosynthesis ⤵⤵⤵⤵⤵

✔ Absorption of light energy by Chlorophyll.

✔ Conversion of light to chemical energy and splitting of water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen.

✔ Reduction of carbon dioxide to carbohydrates.

  • Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, some bacteria, and some protistans use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar, which cellular respiration converts into ATP, the "fuel" used by all living things.

  • Photosynthesis is important to living organisms because it is the number one source of oxygen in the atmosphere.

  • Green plants and trees use photosynthesis to make food from sunlight, carbon dioxide and water in the atmosphere: It is their primary source of energy.
