She was Queen of Great Britain from 1837 to 1876 which is the second longest reign in British history. Under her reign, Britain went from a primarily agricultural society to an industrial one. Her children and grandchildren married into the royal families of almost all the monarchies of Europe. She was often called the Grandmother of Europe.

I find her a very fascinating w
She was self-important, spoiled, selfish, pampered, haughty and snobbish and tried her best to meddle in politics. She didn’t seem to care about anyone but herself or her husband - she was even quite cruel to her own children. I guess that’s the result of being fawned over since birth and becoming a head of state when you’re 18. She tended to do what she wanted, when she wanted.

History gives her the credit of the Victorian Age, but this period in history was about a lot more than her and her husband - who, incidentally, did far more for the country and the monarchy than she ever did. I wonder how she would have been judged had she not married him.

It was also a time of great poverty, which Victoria doesn’t seem to have shown much concern for.

All in all, not a very pleasant woman. Sadly, we are taught in schools that she was a grand old lady, the Grandmother of Europe, and her great love story with Albert, which tend to overshadow her true character and lack of achievements.
