Helen admits that book played a great role in her life and that she had depended on them for pleasure and knowledge. she had read a number of books with the help of her hungry fingures. in the beginning she had only a few books. she read them again and again si many times that their embossed print had worn out. after reading little lord fauntleroy she had read a number of books. such as Greek horsrs, La fontaine's 'Fable' , Bible stories, Ribinson Crusoe and so on. she also shows her love for greek history and literature.
She says that she has many tree friends in wrentham. one of them is a splendid oak which is quite close to her heart. she has shown this tree to many of her other friends. it stands near king Philip's pond and helen feels it must be eight hundred or a thousand years old. helen's another tree friend was a linden in the dooryard at Red Farm. but one afternoon it fell down after a terrible thunderstorm...

know that how much Keller loved books. She took enjoyment in them and enjoyed reading. She sometimes read individually with raised print or braille books(books for the blind :( ). At times, others read to her by fingerspelling(sign language ) the words from the book into her hand. In her autobiography "The Story of My Life", Keller explained how much she had depended on books not only for happiness and for the knowledge they bring to all who read, but also for that knowledge.
