The doctor's room was infested with rats. The house was not electrified and it was a small rented room. The room had two windows. It was an outer room with one wall facing the open yard. It had a tiled roof with long supporting gables that rested on the beam above the wall. There was no ceiling. There was a regular traffic of rats to and from the beam. The room had a table on which stood a lamp and a large mirror and a small comb lay beside the mirror.
