Answer:

Uncle Alfred's Long Jump is a poem written by Gareth Owen which is humorous and is based on a man who is Uncle Alfred who ends up with broken bones because of his eccentric (strange) behavior. Mary Rand was a British athelete who became the first British woman to win an Olympic gold medal. After her achievement, Auntie Hilda measured the distance she jumped on the pavement outside her house and shouted challengingly to the men group of the streets that if men are so clever then let's see if they can do what Mary Rand did. When no men accepted the challenge, Uncle Alfred put down his bowler and brolly and launched himself from the lamppost to reach to the rosebush but ended up with broken legs in an infirmary. He felt proud of himself that he tried atleast and started thinking of ideas to improve his high Jump techniques.
