When a product is formed from two or more reactants without the loss of any atoms present in the reactants is called as addition reaction.
Example:
Reaction between ethene and bromine :
- C₂H₄ + Br₂ ⟶ C₂H₄Br₂.
- Ethane + Bromine → 1, 2-dibromoethane.
