Answer:

All animals, including humans, exhibit some very distinct - and often amusing - behaviors. In studying animals, we often attribute defining distinctions between them based upon their behaviors, just as much or even more so than their anatomy. The study of animal behavior is known as ethology, which particularly emphasizes the natural environment that influences the behaviors.

Think of the behavioral differences between a domestic dog and a wolf - though they are very closely related, their common behaviors are divided by human influence. Understanding the dynamics of animal behavior has important implications for the fields of evolutionary biology, farming and agriculture, animal husbandry, ecology, and psychology

The types of animal behaviour are:

i)Instinct

ii)Imprinting

iii)Conditioning

iv)Imitation

*Instinct :*

i) Instinctual behaviour are the behaviours that need not to be learned.

ii) They can be complex like making nests by birds, choosing mates and forming into groups for protection, etc.

*Eg:* If you hands touch something hot or sharpened object accidentally, it automatically moves away (reflexes).

*Imprinting :*

The tendency of young ones to follow the first moving object they see is called imprinting.

*Eg:* Ducklings will follow the first moving object they meet after hatching.

*Conditioning :*

i) Conditioning is a type of behaviour involving a response to a stimulus that is different from the natural one.

ii) It is a type of learned behaviour.

*Eg:* Standing in attention when we hear National Anthem.

*Imitation :*

i) Imitation is a type of behaviour where one animal copies another animal.

ii) Humans often imitate each other, without realising it.

*Eg:* When people talk to each other, they may stand or sit in a similar way, and copy each other's movements.
