Spill some amount of water on the floor and take same amount of water in a small cup. This should be in an open area. Now note the time after which water vanishes from floor and from cup. You'll find that water from floor took less time to evaporate than from the cup.
This sufficiently shows that evaporation increases with the increase in surface area.
