connect the circuit as shown in fig below. Switch on the battery so that the current begin to flow. Sprinkle some fine iron filling around the current carrying wire .Tap the surface gently The iron filling get arrange in concentric circles which denotes the shape of magnetic field lines around the staright current carrying conductor
