Answers
• Take a spoon of salt in the bowl and taste a pinch of it.

Observation : When you taste a pinch of the salt, as expected, it tastes salty. However, when you taste it after mixing it with flour, it tastes sweet.
• When we taste the mixture of salt and flour, it isn't the salt that tastes sweet but the flour. Neither flour nor salt are sweet but the combination of them gives a sweet taste.
Flour contains certain compounds that taste bitter and certain compounds that taste sweet. The chemical formula of Salt is NaCl(Sodium Chloride) . So, when salt is added to the flour, it suppressses the bitter taste of that flour and the flour suppresses the salty taste of the salt. With the bitter taste of the flour suppressed, the Sweetness of it gets pronounced. Our brain cancels out the salty and bitter tastes, leaving the flour to taste sweet.
• One can make bread without salt, but the bread will not be tasty. It will be bland and papery. As from the reason given above, flour doesn't taste good by itself. Adding salt to it brings out the Sweetness of flour making the bread delecious.
