aim: to prove that hydrogen is common in all acids

materials required:

  1. hydrochloric acid,
  2. sulphuric acid
  3. , phosphoric acid,
  4. acetic acid,
  5. nitric acid,
  6. test tube,
  7. tweezers,
  8. Bunsen burner and  
  9. match sticks

note: this experiment should be performed in a controlled environment with proper lab coats, gloves and goggles

procedure:

  1. take 10 ml of hydrochloric acid in a test tube, and with the of tweezers hold up the test above the Bunsen burner.now place the matchstick right above the mouth of the test tube.
  2. now take 10 ml of sulphuric acid in a test tube, and with the of tweezers hold up the test above the Bunsen burner.now place the matchstick right above the mouth of the test tube.
  3. similarly repeat the experiment with the other acids too

observation: the lit matches go off with a pop sound with confirms the presence of hydrogen

conclusion: hydrogen is present in all acids
