Describe an activity to show that rate of evaporation increases with surface area

Hello... Just check the bowl water experiment.

Take two bowls

One bowl should be with larger surface area and other with smaller.

Fill both bowl with water

Place both bowl on burners with a constant temperature

You will observe that larger surface area bowl will loose more vapour than smaller one this is because larger Surface area giving gas molecules more chances to expand.

We can now say rate of evaporation increases with Surface area.

• now hang them to dry bt spread only one cloth
• u would notice that the cloth that was spread will dry faster as compared to another this is because it has larger surface area then the other.
• this shows that increase in surface area increases the rate of evapiration
