Describe an activity to show that rate of evaporation increases with surface area

Aim = To show that vaporation increases with increase in surface area.

Requirements = Wet cloths, a cloth hanger.

Procedure = Case 1 ) Take wet cloths and hang them on holder on a sunny say. Don't spread the clothes and just hang them on hanger.

Case 2 ) Take wet cloths and hand them on hanger but this time don't just hang instead spread them on holder.

Observation = Now, see that in which case clothes dry faster.

Conclusion = We saw that clothes dry faster in Case 2 because when clothes are spread then most of area of wet object is exposed to atmosphere. Hence, the evaporation rate increases.

u would notice that the cloth that was spread will dry faster as compared to another this is because it has larger surface area then the other.
