at Anode: 2Fe become 2Fe^2+ + 4 electron .
electron goes to another spot and reduce Oxygen in presence of H+ ions .this spot act as Cathode.
at Cathode: O2 + 4H^+ become 2H2O
2Fe + O2 +4H^+ becomes 2Fe^2+ + 2H2O
Fe2+ further oxidise by atmospheric O2 to Fe3+ .
it is then mixed with water to form hydrated ferric oxide (Fe2O3 .xH2O)known as Rust.
