Describe an experiment to demonstrate the upward movement of water in plants.

Answer:

1) Take a potted plant.

2) Cover it by polythene so that its roots along with soil get completely covered. This will prevent evaporation of water from the soil.

3) Put a bell jar over the potted plant.

4) Apply vaseline on the rim of the jar, this will prevent air from entering the jar from outside.

5) Keep this set-up in the sunlight for some time.

6) You will find drops of water on the inner side of the bell jar. These drops are due to the process of transpiration.

Explanation:

you can take a small plant just pour enough water to it

after sometimes cut its tip you know that tip growing tip which is meristemetically active if you cut that part then you will see small droplets of water

you may also observe transpiration which describes upward movement of water

mass flow hypothesis also explain this only

you know one thing that our Indian also explained his hypothesis as

pulsation theory he is J C BOSE
