Sounds generally travel in wave motion. That's why it needs a medium for it's propagation. This medium could be soild, liquid or gaseous.

To prove the sound's ability to travel through water we can do a simple experiment:

1)First take a deep bowl with full of water.

2)Then take two large sized metal coins.

3)Then hold that two coins with both of your hands.(one coin in one single hand)

4)Submerge your hand into the bowl's water ,with the coins.

5)Move your hand in a clap like motion inside the water, so that the coins will collide with each other.

6)A sound of metal clicking will be produced, when the coins are colliding with each other.

This experiment proves that the sound waves can travel through the liquids.
