Experiment to show that we can get electrical energy by using a magnet:
- The 'magnetic field induction experiment' conducted by Faraday and Henry shows that electrical energy can be produced by using a magnet.
- To prove this, a paper cylinder was converted to a coil by rolling it with a wire (this setup is called solenoid) and the cylinder was connected to a galvanometer.
- When a magnet was moved back and forth inside the paper cylinder, the galvanometer showed deflections due to the induction of current in the coil.
- Typically the galvanometer deflected showing the movement of current in the coil when the north pole of the magnet was moved near the coil.
