Answer:I live in a small town. I had heard of ghosts and other stories before but never believed in it. When I went to my village I was told a similar story. That next to our house there lived a family that had two sisters who loved each other very much. And would go to any extent for one another. They both were so close that they would do everything together from taking water from well, swinging, walking the meadows and khets to going to school. It was believed that they were inseparable souls. But destiny had something else folded for them.
When they grew up. The elder sister fell in love with a boy in the village and had an affair which was known only to her sister. They both would meet secretly in isolated places of village varis (semi-jungle like area with vast lands and trees ,shrubs etc) . This continued for years. Till one day they were caught. Their relationship got exposed to her family.And the blame came on the younger sister. (It was believed that the sister-in-law of the girls, who was jealous of the two and had fights with them , had put the blame on the younger sister that she told to her brother about their secret meeting place and their love). The elder sister was tied and beaten. Packed in the house. And barred from going out.She even got her relationship strained with her sister. She committed sucide. And after few months her sister whose health kept on deteriorating also died.
It was believed their their spirit (armaa) wonders in the bamboo woods behind our house. And comes only during night.
I had heard this story. But would laugh at it thinking it to regular filmy story. Once during the summer vacation I had gone to the village. It was a very hot day. I wanted to sleep at roof top. But was denied for the obvious reasons. But being a disbeliever and non superstitious I was stubborn to go up. Thinking nothing will happen. So I went up with my bedsheet and pillow. I was not fearful but as I was walking up I could sense a feeling of some nervousness. But I would change my mind. I went up on the roof. Got my bed sheet spread and slept . I was all alone. And with the stories that I had heard it took some time to sleep but I slept after few minutes.
During the night I heard some sounds of a women crying and payal . I woke up. It was not a natural sound but had some pain to it. I immediately turned to the corner side near bamboo tree.I saw a women like figurative structure with only head visible with a fainted structure. She appeared in flash of the moment and disappeared. It happened twice. I was totally frozen , pale and frightened. Almost died. I ran hurriedly down the stairs. Went straight in my cousin's room . Woke him up. Told him everything.
For the whole night I couldn't sleep.
That incident I cannot forget in my entire life.
I know it's hard for many to believe but that incident shook me and till date I have this belief that there is something super natural in this universe and I believe in ghosts and spirits.
One may call it a cooked up story and some a man ka vyayam. But I know all the stories of that haunted bamboo were not co incidental and cooked up. Me waking up too the payal sound was not a vyayam. The illusionary image which was more than real yet surreal was not a blur of vision.
Above all the frightening experience that made me sweat like hell … couldn't be fake.
