Life is full of challenges. I had learnt it quite early. I was in 10th class then. I had set an aim for myself to play for Indian cricket team. My father was a man of meager means who could not afford the expenses involved in my training, coaching, sporting gear! However, I continued working hard. My hard work paid off. I was selected in the school cricket team after lots of patience, wait, and struggle.
Once as a player I got out of form. In spite of so much practice and focus, I could not score many runs in a season. The inter-district tournament was round the corner. I needed to be in good form. My selection for national team depended on my brilliant performance. In the recently held match I had not scored many runs.
The burden of my failures was heavy on my heart. I wanted to cry! The next day was a crucial match! My father just casually asked me to accompany him to a religious place that he went to every week out of piety. I accompanied him. There I sat in front of the holy saint’s altar. Tears welled up in my eyes. I prayed to God to help me in my form. I felt quite light after the visit to the holy place.
Next day there was the crucial match. I went as opener. Quite miraculously I found batting skills to be in perfect form. I scored half-century. I was declared as man of the match. That incident has been one of the most positive incidents of my life till date.
