  • The stomach has gastric glands which produce hydrochloric acid for facilitation of pepsin--the protein digesting enzyme.
  • Sometimes, the stomach produces too much acid which causes acidity.
  • To reduce this acidity antacids which are basically bases with pH 10 are consumed.
  • They neutralise the acid thus reducing pain.
