1.They lie below the Himalayan rivers in the north and peninsular plateau in the south.
2.They are made up of deposits of aluvimium.
3.They cover an area of 7 lakh sq.km .
4.They are densely populated physiographic division of india and are believed to be highly productive part in the terms of agriculture.
