Five features of secularism in India is as follows:
- Equality before law irrespective of caste, creed, gender or religion.
- Respect to all the citizens of the people without discriminating anyone on their backgrounds.
- Having no official religion/language. India as a country has no official religion or language. Hindi is preferred to be spoken for important decisions in parliament but its use is not forced on anyone.
- Freedom to profess, practice and propagate any religion based on one's choice in public as long as it does not affect anyone's fundamental rights.
- Allows state to intervene in matters of religion and ensuring no one is discriminated against these. Ex: Banning untouchability
