Describe any five features of the western coastal plains

• Narrow strip of rocky land along the western ghats and all along the Arabian Sea.
• Extents from Gujarat to Kaniyakumari along west coast.
• Konkan plain, Kannad and Malabar plains are its divisions
• More estuaries and lagons are found
• Very few rivers have access to these plains.

WESTERN COASTAL PLAINS :-

• Western Coastal plains starts from Rann of Kutch and end at Kanyakumari.

• Western Coastal plains are narrow compare to Eastern Coastal plains.

• Western Coastal plains are divided into three parts.

• They are : Konkan, Canara and Malabar coasts.

• Konkan coast is located in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa.

• Canara coast is located in Karnataka.

• Malabar coast is located in Kerala.

• Western coastal plains don't have any large rivers.

• The major cities in Western Coastal plains are Mumbai, Kochin, Kanyakumari etc.

Coastal plains of India are the waved platforms and the raised beaches above the water mark. These are mainly the emerged floors from the seas that are adjacent to the land. The Peninsular India plateau is bordered by the narrow Coastal Plains. The Deccan plateau in India is also surrounded by the coastal plains in the west and the east
