Five functions of wholesalers:

1. Assembling:

A wholesaler buys products in more from different producers and puts them in one place.

2. Warehousing or storage:

There is usually a big time gap between the consumption and production of goods. Goods must, therefore, be stored for a considerable time. A wholesaler takes care of this.

3. Transportation:

A wholesaler organizes for the transport of goods from manufacturers to his storeroom and from the storeroom to retailers. He conveys goods in bulk thereby saving the rate of transport.

4. Grading and Packing:

So many wholesalers divide the assembled goods into different grades, pack them into small lots and keep their brand names.

5. Pricing:

A wholesaler predicts market and demand conditions. He helps to decide the resale price of goods.
