1.) Maasailand was cut into half. It was British Kenya and German Tanganyika.The Best grazing land were taken by the whites. Maasai lost 60 percent of their lands.

2.) Grazing land areas were converted into forest reserves. It was like Maasai Mara, Samburu national park and serengity national park. Pastoralists were not allowed here.

3.) Pastoralists were not allowed to move without permits. By this their movement was restricted. They were lol living within confined areas forcibly.

4.) British interfered the social groups of Maasai society. The distinction between the poor and rich developed.

5.) Pastoralists were heavily taxed. This made them reduce the number of cattle they reared.
