• It can be passed from person to person or spread by bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungus. Diseases are spread in two ways:
• When a disease is transmitted directly from an infected individual, this is referred to as direct transmission.
• If an open wound comes into touch with the blood of a Hepatitis B infected patient, for example, the wounded person may get infected.
• Indirect transmission occurs when infections are spread by vectors such as flies, mosquitoes, ticks, dogs, and other insects rather than directly from the affected individual.
