Slime Moulds -

• They are saprophytic protists.
• The body moves along decaying twigs and leaves engulfing organic material.
• Under some suitable conditions, they form an aggregation which is called plasmodium.
• This plasmodium grows and spreads over several feet.
• Under some unfavourable conditions, the plasmodium different shapes and forms fruiting bodies which are spore bearing.
• Spores posses through walls. They are extremely resistant and survive many years.
• The spores are dispersed by air currents.

Protista -

• They are single celled eukaryotes.
• They primarily aquatic.
• They form link with plants, animals and fungi.
• The cell contains well defined nucleus and membrane bound organelles.
• These organisns may have flagella.
• They either reproduce asexually or sexually by a process involving cell fusion and zygote formation.
