In meteorology, the product of the distillation of atmospheric water vapor fells under gravity is known as precipitation.

Explanation:

  • It is the moisture that falls it can be of snow, hail, rain or graupel.

  • It takes place when water reaches its distillation or steam point when water is distilled and then water droplets are formed whether they fall from clouds or from leaves in the form of dew drops.

  • It is when water reaches its low level and it is saturated only to condense afterward.

The yearly precipitation averaged over the whole world is about 100 cm , but this is distributed very unevenly. In the equatorial zone & the Monsoon area in South East Asia the highest precipitation areas are found. Middle latitudes get moderate precipitation amounts, but in subtropical desert and polar areas there is little precipitation.

Explanation:

  • Since precipitation comes from the ascent & cooling of moist air, heavy precipitation areas suggest rising air regions while deserts are situated in areas where air becomes hot and dried at the time of the descent.
  • The trade winds carry heavy rain to the continents' east coasts in the sub-tropics, while the west coast continues to be dry. However, in high latitudes the west coasts are usually wetter than the east coasts. Rain is usually abundant on the wind-ward mountain range slopes however sparse on the lee sides.
  • In the equatorial belt, trade winds from the hemispheres converge & lead to a general elevated movement of air that intensifies locally in tropical tempests which generate very heavy rain in the Indian, the Caribbean, South-west Pacific, & the China Sea, and in thunderstorms which are particularly frequent & active over the land areas.
  • The weather & climate in the medium latitudes are controlled by shifting depressions and fronts which provide a great deal of rain all seasons and in most areas except the far-flung center of the North American & Asian continents. In general, rainfall is plentiful in the summer, with the exception of the western coastline, of Europe, North Africa, & North America where it is higher in the winter.
  • Following a long journey across the warm seas, the eastern strong winds carry abundant rain to east coasts of the sub-tropical landmasses, however the western coast and the continent interiors  that are shielded by the mountains, are very dry
  • The dry sub-tropic areas — such as the North Africa, Australia, South Africa  The Arabian Peninsula, & Central South America — are due to the effects of semi-permanent subtropical anti-cyclones that reduce the air to warm and dry conditions. Such high-pressure belts travel through the seasons and create a dry summer on the polar side and a dry winter on the equator side of their normal location.
  • The low precipitation at high latitudes and particularly in polar areas is partly caused by air subsidence in high-pressure belts & partially low temperatures. The cold sea or ground surfaces evaporate gradually and the cold air has no power absorb hold, but sometimes snow or rain occurs
