Grandfather had a private zoo and the latest addition to his zoo was his favorite monkey, Toto. He bought it from the Tonga Wala for five rupees, without grandmother’s knowledge as she didn’t want any additions to the already existing zoo. The monkey was naughty beyond words and shredded the clothes to pieces in the almirah and created havoc at home.
The monkey was then made to stay with the donkey in the stable. Toto did not get along with the donkey and kept pulling its ears and biting its ears.
Another animal was the tortoise which went with Grandfather and Toto to Saharanpur. Grandfather also had a pair of rabbits, a squirrel, and a pet goat.
