1) Permanent  pasture:

  • They are grasslands used for grazing animals such as sheep, goat, cattle.
  • The vegetation cover include grasses, legumes, tender pasture and fodder.
  • They can be naturally occurring or cultivated fields through intensive agriculture.

2) Fallow other than current fallow:

  • Land which is currently unavailable for cultivation but can be potential land for future use.
  • Such land should be left uncultivated for not less than one year and not more than five years.
  • It can be considered as cropped area not used in current cropping year so that it can restore its fertility.

3) Net sown area:

  • Net sown area is the total area under cultivation in a year.
  • It involves the cultivation of single crop throughout the year.
