three major problems faced by india cotton weavers in the 19 century were:

1) Their export collapsed

2) The local market shrank being flooded by the Manchester goods produced by the machine at low costs. The Manchester cotton goods were so cheap that they attracted the buyers and Indian mills could not compete against them.

3) By 1860, Indian weavers faced a new problem. They couldn't get the sufficient supply of raw cotton of good quality because a civil war broke out in Us and cotton supplies from us to Britain were cut off and Britain turned to India as raw cotton exports from India increased prices of raw cotton shot up as a result Indian weavers were forced to buy cotton at high price and hence weaving did not remain profitable.

As the cotton industry developed in England, Indian cotton weavers faced three problems -

  1. their export market collapsed
  2. local market shrank being flooded with British goods. Indian handmade goods could not compete with fine machine made goods of England.
  3. Weavers were forced to buy raw cotton at exorbitant prices.
