The mode of reproduction in which plants are grown by man is called artificial vegetative reproduction.

It performs by three process:-

1. Cutting- a small part of plant which is removed by making a cut with a sharp knife is called cutting. Rose, grapes, bananas and cactus etc are grown by cutting.

2. layering- in this method in plant of plant is equal to what the ground and a part of it is cover with moist soil leaving the tip of the branch expose above the ground. after sometime no root develop from the part of the branch buried in the soil. Jasmine, strawberry lemon, guava are grown by layering.

3. grafting- it is a method in which the cut stems of two different plant are join together in such a way that the tourist am join and grow as a single plant. apple, peach, apricot are grown by this method.
