a) S-shaped growth curve(sigmoid growth curve) A pattern of growth in which, in a new environment, the population density of an organism increases slowly initially, in a positive acceleration phase; then increases rapidly, approaching an exponential growth rate as in the J-shaped curve; but then declines in a negative.
b) Absolute growth rate is the total growth per unti time. Relative growth rate (RGR): It is growth per unit time per unit initial growth. Though the absolute growth is same for both the leaves (A and B), relative rate of growth is more in leaf A because of its initial small size.
