The Villa for Sale play tells about how Gaston does not want to buy any property in France as he is afraid that it will only cater to the delight of his in-laws. He criticises the house and garden in an attempt to dissuade Jeanne from purchasing the villa. He calls the garden 'a yard with a patch of grass in the middle', describes the inside of the house as 'twenty five yards of cretonne and a dash of paint'. He calls the house a 'shanty'.

After managing to sell the 'shanty' for an amount much higher than what was quoted by the owner he earns a quick lump sum of one hundred thousand francs. His apathy turns into cunning and opportunism. He expresses a false generosity towards his in-laws, the family of Jeanne, and agrees to buy the house for the lowest figure of two hundred thousand franks offered by Juliette. Even though Jeanne is not in favour of the transaction now.

Hey friend,

Here's your answer,

The play 'Villa for Sale' is considered to be a hilarious comedy. In this, the situations that are put before us makes us to laugh our heart out. The plot of the play basically revolves around Mrs Juliette's villa. Initially, at the time of delivery, she expects a good price for her villa has all sorts of comforts and advantages. Therefore, she puts the sign "Villa for Sale" , but a month passes and no one comes to buy it.

It is a one act play, reflecting the story of Mrs Juliette, who wishes to get her villa sold. Her villa has all the amenities in it. It has electricity, gas, water, telephone and drainage too. Moreover, it has several rooms and a well fitted bathroom too.

All the more, it is situated in a porch locality, near the Joinville, the French Hollywood. When the sign board keeps hanging for about a month, and no one comes to buy it, Juliette in frustration, wishes to sell it at any price.

One day, she receives a message from a property agent that a lady is interested in buying the villa and she will be coming soon.

In the mean time, a couple, Jeanne and Gaston arrive there to purchase the Villa. Jeanne is interested in it, while Gaston is not. He knows that if he buys the villa, her wife's parents and her sister would come to live in it. Therefore, he refuses to buy it.

Meanwhile, Juliette arrives and explains everything to Jeanne and Gaston. Jeanne now becomes all the more interested in it but Gaston is same as before.

Jeanne and Juliette go up to see the rooms while Gaston stays alone downstairs. Mrs Smith arrives. She makes a deal with Gaston and goes away without informing Juliette about it.

Gaston now has got 300 thousand francs and therefore, he buys the Villa. His wife Jeanne is surprised by his behavior. At last, Gaston tells his wife that je has made a profit of hundred thousand francs.

Hope this helps!!!!
