  • Nutrients are replenished by adding manures and fertilizers and growing legumes.
  • Rhizobium bacteria live in the root nodules of legumes, it helps in converting nitrogen into a soluble form and remove the deficiency of nitrogen in soil

Answer:

nutrients are replenished by adding manures and fertilizers and growing legumes

Usually, farmers in rainfed areas in India, leave the crop field fallow for a season just because they can't grow crops during the season due to lack of water.

But leaving the field fallow for a season also helps in replenishment of the field with plant growth promoting and essential elements. The microbes present in the soil start building up the nutrient accumulation aided by the sparce green cover provided by the growing weeds in the field along with the left overs of the last crop.

In modern times, scientific developments have shown that leguminous crop plants help in the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen in the soil into nitrates and nitrites through the presence of nitrogen fixing bacteria like rhizobium etcetera in their root nodules, which live in a symbiotic (mutually beneficial) relationship with the plant. So, the legume crops like pea, Alfalfa are quite helpful in soil replenishment, especially when the soil is inhabited by a crop which consumes a huge amount of nitrogen in the previous season
