An infection transmitted through sexual contact, caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases :-

Diseases transmitted through sexual intercourse are called Sexually Transmitted diseases or venereal disease or Reproductive Tract infections.

Examples Of STDs :-

Gonorrhea, Syphilis, genital herpes , chlamydiasis, genital warts, trichomoniasis, hepatitis-B and HIV leading to AIDS.

Hepatitis-B and HIV are also transmitted by :-

Sharing of injection needles , surgical instrument etc.

Tranfusion of blood.

From infected mother to foetus.

Except Hepatitis-B , genital herps and HIV , Other disease are completely curable if they detected early and treated properly.

Symptoms of STDs :-

Itching, fluid discharge, slight pain , swelling etc in genital region.

Mostly these diseases are found in the adults of age 15 to 24 years because this age in which there is occurs mostly Sexual Attractions.

Complications found in mostly females who suffers from these disease are :-

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

Ectopic Pregnency

Still birth

Abortion

Cancer in Reproductive Tracts

Infertility.

Prevention of STDs :-

[1] Avoid sex with Unknown partners or multiple partners.

[2] Always use of condoms during coitus.

[3] In case of doubts, go to a qualified doctor for early detection and get complete treatment.
