Noise pollution is defined as the disturbing, unwanted or excessive sound that can have deleterious effect on human as well as animal health and hearing abilities.
Causes of noise pollution:
● Playing music and DJs at high volume during festivals and community functions.
● Noises from industries like heavy metal, textile, printing press etc., contribute to the noise pollution.
● Transportation too is a cause of noise pollution. With the increase in the number of vehicles the situation of traffic jam is obvious and the continuous honking contributes to noise pollution.
● Using and testing of defence mechanism like missiles, rocket, tanks etc., also increase the level of noise pollution.
Effects of noise pollution:
● Noise pollution effects the hearing ability of humans. Humans have sensory cells which when subjected to continuous high intensity disturbance can get damaged resulting in permanent hearing loss.
● Noise pollution is harmful for animals too and they are irritated by the noise as they are much more sensitive in hearing.
● Noise pollution can result in headache.
● Noise pollution also have effect on heart of an individual and result in increase of heart rate and decrease in heart output causing pain in chest.
