Shah Jahan's Empire stretched from Sindh in West to sylhet in Bengal and
from Balkh in the the north to the Deccan in the south but he he further consolidated
his large Empire and tightened his control on various other regions already under
Mughal authority. In the Deccan region he conquered Ahmednagar while Bijapur
and Golconda accepted his authority and agreed to pay him an annual tribute and
also he defeated Bundela Rajput but he failed to recover Kandahar from the safavid
shah's and also failed to gain control over certain Central Asian territories.

Shah Jahan was one of the Mughal Emperors ' most successful. After 'Babur', 'Humayun', 'Akbar and Jahangir', he was the fourth Mughal emperor. Shah Jahan effectively ruled the empire for 30 years after the victory in the war of succession after the death of his father Jahangir. The Mughal dynasty prospered during its rule, making its reign the Empire's golden age. Although Shah Jahan was a capable manager and commander, he is better known for building the Taj Mahal in remembrance of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
