in cellular respiration our body performs bot aerobic and anaerobic respiration , in anaerobic conditions whenever vigorous work is needed and oxygen supply becomes less than the demand the muscles cells provides energy by anaerobic respiration and as a result it forms lactic acid while in aerobic condition the body tissues and muscle cells follow aerobic respiration channel and gives out only carbon dioxide and water .

Respiration is the process of biochemical decomposition of organic compounds like simple carbohydrate, glucose, in the living cells with the release of energy. It is a process in which chemical energy of organic molecules is converted into usable energy in the cell.
Each living cell in every living organism needs energy. Energy is needed to drive chemical reactions in the cell. It is needed for all metabolic processes.
As every cell derives energy from glucose, it must respire. The process of respiration in cell occurs in a series of chemical steps.

The equation for respiration is:

C
₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂ ⇒ 6CO₂ + 6H₂O + energy.

hope this helps.. :)
