Lomov comes to Chubukov’s house with a proposal to marry his daughter, Natalya. He is very nervous and flustered. He is not sure whether he will get a favorable reply or not. He does not know from where he should start. He talks about this and that, but hesitates to come to the point. However, he musters up his courage and tells Chubukov his intention behind coming to his house.
Chubukov becomes greatly elated to know that Lomov has come to propose to his daughter, Natalya. He embraces and kisses him. He tells him that it was his earnest desire to see his daughter getting married to him. He calls him his angel, his son. His eyes well up with tears of happiness. He prays for their happy married life.
