Each atom at a lattice point is then shared equally between eight adjacent cubes, and the unit cell therefore contains in total one atom (1⁄8 × 8). The body-centered cubic system (cI) has one lattice point in the center of the unit cell in addition to the eight corner points.

Answer:

hii dear,

Face centered cubic unit cell:

In this type ,the unit cell has 8 corner atoms and 6 atoms on each face. Each atom at the face is shared by

two atoms and its contribution to the unit cell is =1/2

hence, face centered cubic unit cell has

=8(corner atoms) x1/8 + 6( face atoms)×1/2

=8 ×1/8 +6 ×1/2

=1+3

= 4 atoms.

thank u so much :)

All the best for 12th exams
