When an electric current flow through a solenoid, magnetic field is set up around solenoid similar to that of a bar magnet. One end of a solenoid act as a north pole and other as south pole. Magnetic field is represented by straight magnetic field lines parallel and very close to each other.

A coil of many circular turns of insulated copper wire is called solenoid . In fact the magnetic feild lines in bar magnet is similar to that of solenoid . In fact on end of the solenoid behaves as North pole and the other end as south pole . The feild lines inside the solenoid are parallel straight lines. this indicates that field inside the solenoid is uniform.
