▶ Our government has done much more to provide food security to the poor by launching various schemes such as buffer stock, PDS,

Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Annapurna Scheme

are the two schemes launched by the government to provide food security to the poor.

▶ To provide food security to the poor, the government has implemented the following

(i) Creating a buffer stock of foodgrains for distribution when and where needed. (ii) Public Distribution System for making available foodgrains to the poor at highly subsidized rates.
